Pottery Wheel Rental + Private Lessons
Bring the experience of learning pottery right to your home. Our Pottery Wheel Rental + Lesson Program is designed for students of all skill levels, from complete beginners to those looking to refine their technique. Whether you are exploring pottery for the first time or building on existing skills, this program provides the equipment, instruction, and flexibility needed to practice consistently and grow.
A professional pottery wheel will be delivered and set up at your home, and students will receive four private 70-minute lessons during the first month to learn the foundations of wheel throwing. Lessons are personalized to the student’s level and pace, focusing on technique, mechanics, and building confidence on the wheel. In 70 minutes we can teach 1-2 students. We highly recommend a parent learning alongside any student under 13.
Because the wheel remains at your home, students have the freedom to practice as much as they like between lessons. The entire family is welcome to use the wheel, creating a relaxed and creative environment where everyone can explore the art of pottery together.
What Students Will Learn
Throughout the lessons, students will learn the essential skills needed to confidently throw on the pottery wheel, including:
Understanding the mechanics and setup of the wheel
Proper body positioning and hand control
How to center clay effectively
Creating basic forms such as cylinders and small bowls
Developing consistency and control while shaping clay
By the end of the fourth lesson, students who practice regularly should feel comfortable centering clay and creating small forms with increasing ease and confidence.

Logistics & Space Requirements
Working on the wheel is a little messy but clay is easily cleaned with water.
10×10 space - A solid surface floor where we can set up a wheel to practice and teach. (not carpet)
Power - 110v
Water - Sink or hose nearby
Clay Clothes - Clay washes out very easily.
Comfortable environment - Garage space can work if we are mindful of temperature. An afternoon lesson in August would not work in a garage that is not cooled.
